Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Lebanon, NH

Increase Your Dental Knowledge

We enjoy educating our patients. We know that the more they know, the more empowered they are to make wise choices about their oral health. Below, we have listed some of the questions that our patients commonly ask and provided brief answers. If you do not see the specific question that you are curious about, or you would like more information about a certain topic, get in touch with us. We will be happy to personally chat with you.

Why Should I Visit O&S Dental Every Six Months if My Teeth Feel Fine?

When it comes to dental health, the look and feel of the teeth can be deceptive. Many issues that can be detrimental if left untreated present few or no symptoms until they become severe. Your semi-annual visits with us allow us to consistently assess your oral health and spot any irregularities that might lead to trouble later on. We screen for such things as gum disease, TMD, bruxism, and oral cancer during every routine preventive exam.

Why Do I Need X-Rays?

X-Rays allow our skilled team to diagnose concerns that cannot be seen with the naked eye, including cavities beneath the gumline, decay between teeth, and concerns with the jawbone and gum tissue health. The frequency with which you should receive X-Rays depends on many factors, including your age, the overall state of your dental health, and past treatments. Talk to your dentist about how often you should receive X-Rays.

Why Are Dental Cleanings Important?

Regular cleanings with one of our talented hygienists are essential to preventing oral health issues. Most of the oral health problems that we treat are caused by bacteria. These bacteria bond to the teeth by creating a coating of biofilm, called tartar, that daily brushing and flossing may be unable to remove. These bacteria can multiply, leading to tooth decay, gum disease, and other problems. Our experienced hygienists break down the biofilm layer and remove bacteria that your at-home care routine cannot eliminate.

Do You Accept My Insurance?

We accept payment from most dental insurance policies. If you want to know more about how we can work with your coverage, please contact us. Our friendly staff will help you determine how your policy may apply to any specific treatments and help you with any questions you may have about payment.
